This simple programme calculates the azimuth (the bearing clockwise from north) and the elevation (the vertical angle above the horizon) for any geostationary satellite from any point on the earch.
The values of the angles are entered in degrees north or west. Degrees south or east are prefaced by a minus sign. For example 15°30'E would be entered as "-15.5" or "344.5".
The programme is very rudimentary and could easily be enhanced or adapted or rewritten in another dialect of BASIC, or another language altogether.
There are various versions of the programme. Apart from an ASCII listing and the raw BASIC file, there are zipped files for Acorn, Macintosh and Windows computers. Once Mac or Windows users have unzipped their file it may be transferred to an Acorn machine or run under emulation.
Depending on the browser in use, it may be necessary to force the browser to save the link to disc, in source form, rather than simply clicking on the link.
If downloading is unsuccessful, and you desperately want a copy of this programme, please e-mail me me with your postal address and I will send you a copy on 3.5" 800K ADFS floppy. Unfortunately, I can no longer produce 5.25" BBC DFS floppies. I could also send a DOS or Macintosh floppy at a pinch.
You can find BBC Emulators for other computers at www.emulation.net.
